It’s been a crazy week so far with plenty of trades, and here’s another. Starling Marte is headed from the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Miami Marlins.
The full trade is Starling Marte for Caleb Smith, Humberto Meija, and class A left-handed pitcher Julio Frias. This is a huge trade for the Marlins if they want to contend this year. Currently sitting in 2nd place, three games behind the Atlanta Braves, this was a must for the Marlins.
Marte has been having a pretty decent year so far. He’s averaging a .311 batting average, 23 runs scored, two homeruns, five stolen bases, and 14 RBI. Marte gives the Marlins a much needed power boost in that lineup. Marte will definitely be the starting outfielder for a team that consists of Jon Berti, Lewis Brinson, Garrett Cooper, Matt Joyce and Jesus Sanchez.
